Emotional Words

Love... hate.... anger.... pride....fear....joy....jealousy....happy... sad....lonely

When you say, or read these words it evokes a response. Love, can take you back in time, couple it with happy, more response, add sad and lonely. Each of these words make you feel it. Pretty impresive isn't it? A simple word can bring a smile to your face, tears to your eyes, an emptyness in your stomach. Words can make you the ultimate time traveller. I don't know where I am going with this line of thought, but it is a rainy, dark, miserable night out here on the coast and for some reason I started thinking about those plain and simple words. Ahhh, continue with my line of thought.........CANCER! Wow, that word is enough to make you go through a myriad of emotions. Let's add "scared" to the word mix.
I still don't know where I am going with this post but for some reason I felt the need to blog about them. Maybe it is because I am experiencing all of them right now. They are rushing through my mind, taking me places, some happy, some dark. Do you realize how many people die of cancer each day. I have a habit of reading the obituaries in our paper. I would hazard a guess to say that in 3 to 4 of the notices, cancer is listed as cause of death. We have walks, runs, rides, all sorts of things to raise money for cancer research, and they do raise a lot of money. Tell me, why have they not found a cure for it? It robs people of their dignity, it inflicts all sorts of pain to everyone, it creates hope, dashes hope, brings hope and ends hope. Cancer sure levels the playing field, it knows no boundaries. Rich, poor, homeless, palatial,blue collar,doctors, mechanics, the everyday people.
